I hope my humble musings are not too overshadowed by London Fashion Week kicking off as I write...I have been glued to my Tweetdeck anxiously awaiting news and behind the scenes gossip! Needless to say, the distraction has not been conducive to deadlines that are piling up! Oh dear, oh dear - well here goes...

 

I recently came across the works of Los Angeles based artist Mike Stilkey and I would like to share them with you. His rather unusual, quirky style captured my attention and I was hooked!

 

Stilkey has always been attracted to drawing and painting on unusual surfaces such as vintage papers, record covers, pages in books and books themselves. He uses a mix of ink, coloured pencils, paint and lacquer to layer ...

 

I recently hosted my very own quintessential vintage tea party to celebrate my ?!%&th birthday, so when the opportunity to showcase my fabric jewellery at Tart was presented to me, I accepted without hesitation! It seemed like the perfect event for all the things I LOVE - Girly afternoons, tea and cakes, pampering, pretty frocks, stunning interiors and the beauty and charm of vintage.

 

Tart is a monthly event hosted at the inspiring and magical boutique hotel - 40 Winks - and home of Mr David Carter.

 

 

 

Upon arrival at 2pm on the dot with military precision, the guests were greeted and politely asked to remove their heels for comfy slippers and steered downstairs towards the kitchen, for refreshments.
